Thank you to all involved and those who came to Coulsdon for Yuletide Magic 2023, on Saturday 2nd December there was a great atmosphere and many, many people out enjoying themselves throughout the day.
Firstly, a big thank you to Group One Auto Kia in Coulsdon.
Your platinum sponsorship made our event and town's Christmas lights happen. The display of the new EV6, Electric Niro, and test drives brought great joy.
Thanks for your support. We are looking forward to future collaborations!
An unmarked Kia EV6 and police vehicle from the British Transport police from Croydon added a special touch for memorable pictures too.
Before the event Charlie King, ECRA organised for the Coulsdon Christmas lights, and extra ones this year, to be put up and switched on for us all. Thank you Charlie and ECRA for the £100 donation too.
Woods Jewellers sponsored the Christmas market, and had a roulette mini game and champagne in their store. The market consisted of some returners and many locally-based stallholders including some of Coulsdon’s high street businesses: Streeter Marshall, Token Accessories (now selling online only), BCSS, Get Fired and Smallworths and Coulsdon Home Hardware ran a stall at their shop and supported in a secret way ....
Cozy Glow supplied the fabulous LED Christmas tree and smart lights at Santa's Grotto, many lights and decorations and organised the Christmas Market, provided the 'snow' you may have enjoyed at the stage. They also coordinated licensing, road closure and risk assessments with Croydon Council, created the artwork for printing and managed the Coulsdon Yuletide Magic website. Thank you Ashley especially, and Kristian for his remote contributions.
Santa proved a massive hit again, and we had to replenish presents for walk-ins on the day. We are very grateful to him of course, and Jo of Hallways Residential Estate Agents for sponsoring the grotto, Santa being there all day and the elves from Hallways too.
Gary at Advanced Print did an awful lot of printing for us, from initial flyers to road closure notices and all the signs and banners and did a lot of lifting and shifting. Advanced Print also allowed us to use the shop as a base and Event Control. Thank you Gary and everyone who supported from Advanced Print, including Harry who volunteered to stay on to help and pack-down.
We also benefitted from advertising in CR5, thanks to Lucy again and other residents magazines; ECRA, Coulsdon West, OCRA and HADRA, supporting online too.
The Coulsdon Club hosted Santa’s Grotto in their garden and a mini-market at the back of the club, which we believe was better attended this year, due to additional signs and a wider mix of stalls.
Special thanks to Louise for all her help and support.
We hosted some local charities and enterprises: The Hygiene Bank, and Willow Learning for Life again and The Edible Garden/Community at Tollers, Reigate Sea Cadets and Radio Marsden raising awareness for these local good causes too.
The stage was provided by Surrey Scaffolding and gave us entertainment all day, organised again by John from Leading Note, with local music acts and performers; Tollers Estate Youth and Friends, Coulsdon C of E Primary School Choir, Chipstead Valley Primary School Choir, All Dance Abilities, Brothers Again, Mike Alexander, Gemma Vaz, I-Play Music, Stagecoach Coulsdon, The Rock Project Croydon, The Killer 8s, S.I.N.G. Choir and The Afterthoughts.
Thank you to those who took to the stage and especially to John, who did a very long shift on the day, as well as Charlie King from ECRA who was up late to ensure the last/night bus went before the road closure and out very early again. Mike Corner provided the sound and lighting for us, supported by Matthew from MC Will Writing Services for which we are very grateful also. Thanks to Peter Stone of Built by Blueprint for helping with the stage flooring.
Thank you for all your support Rajan and Puzzle Kitchens and Bedrooms for sponsoring the First Aiders.
As well as Woods Jewellers, sponsoring the Market, Coulsdon Osteopathic Clinic were bronze sponsors. Domino (Pizza) donated £250, and Flamingo Kebabs £30 towards the event/Christmas Lights.
Thank you to all other local businesses and individuals also supported in various ways, advising customers of the event, putting up posters, sharing online posts, donating financially, and giving prizes for the raffle: see the Raffle Page
Stewarding and helping us on the day were local shop owners Gary from Advanced Print, Rajan from Puzzle Kitchens and Bedrooms and Eleanor and Wendy from Fine Toad, Charlie from ECRA, Ashley from Cozy Glow, Ginny Hue and Bristle and Amardeep and Gill Hickson, members of Eleanor and Rajan’s Emerald BNI group, Rachel from BackUp Administration, Roray from DialAFlight, Dave from True Potential and Devi from Better Lives Foundation and volunteers from The Hive, Coulsdon's community garden.
Thank you also to Bliss Caffee, Get Fired and Bella Art Caffe for supporting CCP and Yuletide Magic.
It really feels like the community is coming together, which is the whole idea of the Coulsdon Community Partnership.
A massive thanks to everyone who came down and supported, acts that performed, businesses, residents and visitors that endured the road being closed and buses on diversion. We always do our best to try and reach everyone affected.
Money raised helps cover the costs of putting on the event, Coulsdon’s Christmas Lights and towards future lights, events and activities of the charity.
